Skydiving is thrilling and challenging, and attracts some of the bravest people in the world. Although the sport is dangerous, a lot of people still love it, some even paying with their lives. Recently, a group of 57 skydiving enthusiasts completed a record breaking jump, achieving a great feat in parachute diving history and commemorating the tragic loss of a fellow parachutist. Locked hand in hand, 16,000 feet above earth, a group of 57 skydivers managed to set an unprecedented world record as they took the plunge together in a formation. This stunt was first attempted by the legendary parachutist Robby Bigley, before his tragic death in 2009. About a year ago, Bigley's wife found her late husband's old parachute while sorting out some old papers. She came up with the idea of the group jump and told one of Robby's friends. The 57-people skydiving jump broke three world records, three American records and four Texas records. Nelson, one of the participants in the jump, said: "This record-breaking parachute jump is special because it commemorates the great skydiving legend Robby Bigley, who was one of the pioneers of vertical skydiving". Bigley has completed more than 20 vertical skydiving programs, which is unprecedented and believed to be impossible by many people. Bigley even thought that one day a group jump of that scale can be achieved. With this record-breaking dive the 57 people came together to achieve his vision.
